CODEO observers, deployed in all the 216 districts across the country, will observe both the first and second phases of the exercise which commences tomorrow, Thursday April 28 2016, and ends on Sunday May 8,2016.

According to CODEO, the observers will observe proceedings at registration centers, including the opening of the centers, the availability of registration materials and functioning of equipment, the conduct of election officials, compliance to registration rules and procedures as captured in Constitutional Instrument (C.I) 91, and turn-out for the exercise. CODEO will share its observation findings on the exercise with the public.

“The Coalition is calling on the EC to intensify publicity on the exercise particularly on the
modalities for the exercise. CODEO entreats political parties and all Ghanaians to refrain from acts that can negatively affect the smooth conduct of the exercise. CODEO also wants to use the opportunity to call on the media and all stakeholders to support public education about the registration exercise.”

“Finally, CODEO entreats all qualified Ghanaians especially the youth to show up and register
during the period of the exercise. CODEO’s observation of the 2016 limited voter registration exercise forms part of the Coalition’s comprehensive observation of this year’s election. The observation exercise is made possible with the generous support of the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID),’ it said.
