Emmanuel Mensah, who pleaded guilty to the offence, would go to prison for 14 days in default.

His accomplice, Robert Quansah, 44, a security officer with the mining firm, was charged for abetment of crime.

Quansah who, however, pleaded guilty, but said he had an explanation, was granted bail in the sum of GH¢2,000.00 to re-appear on November 18.

Prosecution Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah, told the court, presided over by Mr. Emmaunel Bart-Plange Brew, that the complainants were security officers of the GGL, Tarkwa Mine.

Detective Amponsah said on October 28, the complainants were on their routine patrol checks at North ADR Ponds, Tarkwa, when they spotted Emmanuel and another person loitering in the premises.

He said another accomplice, now at large, whose name was only given as “Cross” fled the scene when he saw the complainants, leaving his mobile phone behind.

According to the Prosecutor, Mensah claimed he accompanied Cross to see a security officer when he was interrogated by the complainants.

He said on the spot investigation conducted by the complainants revealed that Robert, who was then on duty near the South West ADR Ponds, communicated with the Cross on his mobile phone that he was visiting him at his duty post, which was not permitted.

They were arrested and handed over to the Police together with the mobile phone.
