Laminu Adamu faces a possible death sentence

The Kano State Police Command, on Tuesday, confirmed the dismissal of a police officer, Laminu Adamu, who allegedly shot dead a 12-year-old boy, Mohammed Nassanu, on the eve of Eid-el-Fitri.

Magaji Majiya, spokesperson of the state’s police command, said Adamu was found guilty of the offence during the orderly room trial; adding that he has been dismissed from service and since been charged to court in order to serve as deterrent to others.

The accused, who was attached to the Gwale Police Division, is facing prosecution at the Kano Magistrate?s Court where he is charged with culpable homicide, punishable with death.

“The police commissioner has warned other men and officers of the command to adhere strictly to civil relations and professionalism in carrying out their duties,” said Majiya. “He also warned them against indolence and laxity as the command will not condone such acts.”
