A 21-year-old corn miller, George Nii Lamptey Goliytly has been handed down a three year jail term for indecently assaulting a five year old nursery one pupil.

Nii Lamptey was convicted after he was found guilty on the charge of indecent assault by the court presided over by Mrs Justice Rita Abrokwah-Doko at the end of a trial.

The case of the prosecution led by Chief inspector Kofi Atimbire was that the complainant is a 34-year-old Good Samaritan residing around the Arts Centre, Accra.

Chief Inspector Atimbire said the victim lives with her mother at Adedenkpo in Accra.

Prosecution said, Nii Lamptey is a maternal uncle to the victim and On August 5, 2018, at about 0900 hours, lured the victim to a spot near the complainant’s shop, adjacent to the Ghana National Fire Service Academy in James Town where he sexually assaulted the victim.

The prosecution said the complainant and his two friends saw the convict in the act and caused his arrest.

Chief Inspector Atimbire said the accused was escorted to the James Town Police Station and later the matter was transferred to the Greater Accra Regional Domestic Violence and Victim’s Support Unit, where a medical report form was issued to the victim’s mother to send the victim to the hospital.
