A 41 year old Farmer, who assaulted his ex-wife at Afari in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality, has been granted a GHȼ 30, 000.00 bail with three sureties by the Nkawie Circuit Court.
Musah Abdulai, is said to have given Gloria Awuah, his ex-wife a slap when the latter demanded money from him to take care of their two kids, currently in her custody.
He pleaded guilty to the charge and was convicted on his own plea and will reappear before the Court on November 13 this year for sentence.
Police Inspector Ruth Gborson told the Court presided over by Mr Michael Johnson Abbey, that Gloria, the complainant and Musah were ex-lovers but divorced after having two kids now in the care of Gloria.
She said on October 25 this year, Gloria went to Musah’s house for ‘upkeep’ money for the children but a quarrel ensued between them where Musah slapped her across the face and together with the younger kid she was carrying on her back fell down.
Prosecution said, Gloria made a report to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Nkawie Divisional Police Command and this led to Musah’s arrest.
He said the accused confessed to the act in his cautioned statement and after investigations, he was charged and arraigned.
