The 67-year-old cleric says he’s tired of forcing his 50-year-old wife to have sex with him | By Yinka Ojo

An Igando Customary Court in Lagos has dissolved an 18-year-old marriage after the husband alleged that his wife stopped having sex with him.
In his ruling on Wednesday, the Court President, T.A. Eko, declared that ?the marriage between Lawal Temidire and Risikat Temidire is hereby dissolved?.

He said that the court was left with no other option than to dissolve the union ?since all efforts to resolve the couple have proved abortive?.
Lawal, 67, a muslim cleric had earlier filed a divorce petition seeking an end to his marriage to Risikat, 50, over allegations that his wife was repeatedly rebuffing his sexual advances.
He claimed he wanted the divorce because he had stopped loving his wife, who would pick up a quarrel each time he tried to sleep with her.
?We always fight each time I want to sleep with her and I am tired of it. On several occasions, she did not allow me to make love to her and I used to force her, but I am already tired of it,? he said.
In her reaction, Risikat, with two children in the marriage, denied the allegations, but expressed her support for the dissolution of the marriage.
Following his ruling, however, Eko warned the estranged couple against violence and ordered Lawal to pay his ex-wife the sum of N50,000 for her to relocate to a new apartment.
