Paintsill was said to have caused harm to the left eye of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Emmanuel Basintale, District Police Commander, East Legon, and also threatened him into fear of harm.
The accused also assaulted Detective Sergeant William Gyamesi, while in the execution of his lawful duties.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail by the court presided over by Mrs Patricia Quansah to reappear on July 14.
Prosecuting Police Chief Inspector David Galley told the court that on May 22, one Mrs Richlove Paintsil the wife of the accused person reported to the East Legon police that the husband has stolen her car.
The accused person was invited to the police station on May 23, and put before the Crime Officer DSP/Miss Belinda Banini who instructed him to produce the car and its document at the station for further investigations into the case.
He said on May 24, the accused person came to the station without the car.
He and the wife were therefore paraded before the District Commander in his office for interrogation.
The District Commander asked the accused person to bring the car to the Police Station for safe keeping to enable Police conduct investigations into the case since both are claiming ownership of it.
According to the prosecution, this did not go down well with the accused person.
He flared up and hurled insults on the District Commander that he is bias, unprofessional and has taken side in the case.
Paintsill continued that it was the second time that the Commander had showed his unprofessional conduct to him.
The commander at that point ordered the investigator to arrest and escort him to the charge office to be detained.
Police Chief Inspector Galley said Paintsill got up, doubled his steps and left the District Commander’s office into the corridors.
The investigator pursued and asked him to stop but he angrily pushed him away. When the District Commander intervened, the accused gave him a heavy blow on the left eye. His eye became swollen and turned red.
He said the District Crime Officer then raised the alarm which attracted other police personnel around who rushed to the building and assisted the Commander.
The accused person was arrested and detained in cells for investigations after the District Commander made a case of assault, causing harm, threat of harm and offensive conduct against him.
He told the court that the victim was then issued with police medical form to attend hospital.
He said while in the custody, Paintsill hurled insults on the District Commander that he is flirting with his wife and that he is a useless and foolish police officer. He then threatened that he would teach him a lesson and deal with him.
