Court Orders National House of Chiefs To Re-instate Adama Latse Within 14 Days

A Kumasi High Court has ordered the National House of Chiefs (NHC) to Re-instate the name of Boni King Tackie Adama Latse II into the National Register of Chiefs as the legitimate Ga Mantse, within two weeks.

Presiding over the matter in Suit No. GJMISC/83/21, regarding the deletion of his name from the National Register of Chiefs, a Fast Track High Court Judge, Justice Frederick Tetteh on November 11, 2021 ordered the restoration of the name of the Applicant in the case, NII TACKIE ADAMA LATSE II into the Register of Chiefs at the National House of Chiefs by the Respondent (NHC) and its Registrar within 14 days from he day of the ruling.

The matter which is between the Republic vrs. National House of Chiefs, Ex-parte Nii Tackie Adama Latse and Nii Tetteh Ashong VI – Intersted Party, have travelled at the court for sometime now.

Meanwhile, the court stated in its ruling that “Per the ruling the instant application has merits and it is accordingly granted. I hereby order the restoration of the name of the Applicant, NII TACKIE ADAMA LATSE II into the Register of Chiefs at the National House of Chiefs by the Respondent herein and its Registrar within 14 days from today. For the avoidance of doubt or on before 25-11-2021.”

The Court also awarded costs of GHC25,000.00 against the Respondent in line with Order 74 of C.I 47, since it was their act that led to the filing of the instant application.
