The accused defiled a 14-year-old girl

A 20-year-old man, Abiodun Ogunbunmi, was, on Friday, remanded in prison by an Ikeja Magistrate Court for defiling a 14-year-old girl.

Ogunbunmi was arraigned before the court for allegedly raping young Deborah Akinbola on Monday, August 20, 2012.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Samson Ekikere, told the court that the victim had to be admitted into hospital because of the injuries inflicted on her by the alleged rapist.

Erikere said that the incident occurred around 2p.m. at Fagba, Iju area of the state.
The defendant however, pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against him.

Magistrate Taiwo Akanni refused the defendant’s bail application, ordering that he should be remanded in prison pending the Director of Public Prosecutors’ (DPP) advice.

The Magistrate also adjourned the case to October 30, 2012 for further hearing.
