An Accra Circuit court have revoked a bail granted a driver who allegedly inserted his fingers into a 15 year old girl’s panties to check if she had menstruated before attempting to have sex with her.
Felix Tetteh 28, who was granted a GHC 10,000 bail with two sureties had his bail condition revoked by the court when he failed to appear before it and a bench warrant issued for his arrest.
Tetteh was admitted to a fresh bail in the sum of GHC 30,000 with two sureties one to be justified with a landed property.
The Court ruled that the documents of the landed property and its valuation report was to be deposited at the Court’s Registry pending the final determination of the case.The matter has been adjourned to March 24.
Tetteh, facing charges of threat of harm, indecent assault and assault pleaded not guilty.
He was alleged to have threatened the victim to wit: “I have a knife under my car seat, I will harm you if you don’t allow me to have sex with you.”
Prosecution led by Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbire said the complainant is a trader residing at Oyibi with the victim who is a Junior High School student, whiles Tetteh is also a resident of Oyarifa, Accra.
Prosecution said on April 18, last year, at about 2015 hours the victim and her colleague who is 16 years old went for an Easter convention at Adenta.
He said at the end of the programme at around 2230 hours, the victim and her friend could not find a vehicle to their destination and decided to trek to Ashiyie.
The prosecution said on their way they saw and boarded a Toyota commercial vehicle driven by Tetteh and his bus conductor who was described as a juvenile offender.
Prosecution said there were other passengers on board the vehicle which was heading to Amrahia which close to their destination.
The prosecution said on reaching Amrahia cemetery, all the passengers alighted so the accused told the victim and her friend to alight but they declined saying they were afraid.
He said the victim and her friend pleaded with the accused and his conductor to take them to their destination.
Prosecution said accused on realizing this, took advantage of the situation by driving them to Oyarifa and at an isolated place, made several attempts on the victim to have sex with her at the back seat of the car but she resisted.
He said in the process Tetteh became furious, attempted to strangle and threatened to harm her if she does not give in to his sexual demand but the victim however managed to “free” herself.
The prosecution said, Tetteh, his conductor, the victim and her friend then boarded the vehicle towards Dodowa, when they came across a Police Patrol Team and when quizzed, Tetteh could not convince the team.
The prosecution said Tetteh was escorted to the Police station and a medical report form was issued to the victim to seek medical attention at a medical facility.
