The Jachie Diasporan Association, an organization committed to the development of Jachie in the Bosomtwe District, has donated variety of food items to the community for the upkeep of the underprivileged.

The items, which included; 200 bags of rice, 180 crates of eggs and boxes of cooking oil, was aimed at assisting the poor and underprivileged persons in the community, whose plight was worsened following the outbreak of the coronavirus.

Mr. James Amoateng, an Executive Member and Spokesperson for the Association, said they found the need to give back to the society at a time when the global economy was in recession.

“We are not in normal times, and the Association, consequently, has decided to look back home and reach out to the disadvantaged to enhance their welfare,” he told the Ghana News Agency (GNA), during the presentation of the items at Jachie.

Mr. Amoateng asked citizens who were not members of the association, but in a capable situation, to give wholeheartedly to support those in need in the community.

They should also be committed to the cause of community development projects geared towards uplifting the living standards of the people in the area.

Baffour Kwaku Amoateng IV, the Chief of Jachie, who received the items on behalf of the beneficiaries, asked the people to strive to observe all health guidelines and protocols put in place to mitigate the spread of the pandemic.
