Nana Agyei, also the Chief of Nkaseim in the Asutifi South District, made the commendation when he addressed the chiefs, elders and members of the CWSMT at Kajeji in the Sene East District.

The meeting was part of a six-day familiarisation visit by the Board to selected municipalities and districts in the Region to inspect rural water projects of the Agency.

Nana Agyei said many other management teams in some beneficiary communities are yet to provide a comprehensive report on the efforts being made, as done by the Kajeji CWSMT.

Mr Sammy Mafote, the Operational Manager, raised a number of challenges facing Small Towns Water Management Teams saying the pre-paid system for electricity to power the mechanised water system “is very prohibitive”

He said out of GHC 34,180 earned within the period under review, the office spent GHC 18,182.00 on electricity power consumption.

Mr Mafote appealed to the Board to intervene to ensure a sustainable and effective administration of the system in the country.

Mr Dominic Napare, Member of Parliament for Sene East, said there is the need for the Electricity Company of Ghana to give special package for the payment of the pre-paid power system for the Small Towns Water Management Systems country-wide to alleviate the plight of beneficiary communities.

Mr Francis Kofi Baah, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sene East, said the Assembly would continue to support the management team to perform even better.
