The Delta Queens of Nigeria pipped Ghana Police Service women 1-0 in match-day one of the ongoing Africa Club Championship Cup played at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey pitch in Accra.
The Nigerian team dominated the game in the first half creating a lot of goal-scoring chances but could not capitalize.
From recess, the Delta Queens continued dominance and finally managed to score the only goal of the game out of the many chances they had.
Inspector Francis Ackah, Head Coach for the female team of the Ghana Police Service attributed his team’s defeat to lack of patience which was critical as they played a fast game without controlling the game.
In the other fixture involving Ghana Revenue Authority’s (GRA) male team and their Egyptian opponents Tairat, the latter beat the GRA team 2-1 to walk away with the maximum points.
It was a fiercely competitive game as both teams played at a quick pace keeping fans in full suspense throughout the four quarters of play.
Both teams created many goal-scoring opportunities but neither could convert in the first two-quarters of the game.
The third quarter however was a different story as Tairat scored the first goal creating even higher suspense as GRA was restless in their chase for an equalizer.
In the final quarter, GRA managed to equalize to balance the scale of the game.
Minutes after GRA’s equalizer, Tairat scored again sealing the fate of the game.
