Government has been urged to consider the deployment of customer service inspectors (CSIs) within public sector organisations as part of steps to ensure that the sector provides the best of customer service at all times.
This call was made by customer service expert and author, J. N. Halm at the National Customer Service Stakeholders Conference held In Accra on 30th May, 2019.
Presenting an opinion piece titled, “Putting Customer Experience at the Heart of Ghana’s Public Sector: The Way Forward”,the renowned columnist proffered a number steps that had to be taken to put public sector customer service
among the top in the country.
He first called for a comprehensive study of the quality of service within the public sector to have a true picture of the current state of affairs.
He said beyond the study, there was a need for the setting of customer service standards that all Ministries, Departments and Agencies had to adhere to.
It was in adhering to these standards that Mr. Halm called for the appointment of customer service inspectors to “police” the standards to ensure that these standards are strictly adhered to. He added that “That which is not properly inspected does not get done properly.”
This year’s National Customer Service Stakeholders Conference had participants from both the private and public sector organisations as well as students from the hospitality and tourism sectors. The occasion was also used
to launch the 8th Ghana Customer Service Ratings and Award
