Deputy Chief Imam cautions Muslims

Alhaj Baba Seidu, the Deputy Brong-Ahafo Regional Chief Imam on Monday appealed to Moslems to exhibit the virtue of ‘true love’ in their lives to ensure a peaceful Election 2016.


He said the purpose of any election is to prepare a way for development and emphasised that the upcoming December 7 polls to elect a president and parliamentarians must not result in chaos.

Alhaji Seidu made the appeal when he addressed Moslems who converged at the Sunyani Coronation Park to observe the regional celebration of the 2016 Eid al-Adha festival.

He urged political party supporters to be tolerant and avoid any situation that could cause misunderstanding, conflict and violence before, during and after the general election.

Alhaji Seidu expressed the need for tribal chiefs in the Zongo communities to advise their youth groups to be guided by the teachings of the Islam to promote peaceful co-existence.

Nana Takyi Abeam, Dwanetoahene of Sunyani who represented Nana Bosoma Asor Nkrawiri II, the Paramount Chief of Sunyani urged supporters of the political parties to eschew electoral violence.

The three parliamentary candidates for Sunyani- East; Mr Kwasi Oppong Ababio, Mr George Kumi and Mr Kwasi Ameyaw Cheremeh, appealed to the electorate to be ambassadors of peace since it is a pre-condition for a stable socio-economic progress of any country.

In a related development at Kranka in the Nkoranza North District Chief Imam asked Moslems Muslims youth to refrain from any negative behaviour to avoid soiling the image of the Islam.
