Derek Boateng wants to return to AIK Solna
Ghana midfielder Derek Boateng has expressed his desire to return to Swedish club AIK Solna, according to reports in Sweden.
The Allsvenskan title-holders are said to be interested in signing the 32-year-old on a season’s contract.
Boateng, who is a free agent, has been linked with several clubs in Europe and the Asian peninsula but no club has officially made a bid to sign him, his agent has revealed.
But the former Liberty Professionals and 2006 FIFA World Cup Ghana star has revealed his interest in returning to the Swedish top-flight to play for AIK.
“I want to play for AIK, now. I want to go back. I have always followed AIK and have never lost contact or interest with the club. AIK are interested. That’s right. Yes, I talk to AIK. I have contacts with Bjorn Wesstrom,” he told Fotbolldirekt.
Boateng failed to secure an extension contract with Spanish La Liga side Eibar after his one-season contract expired at the end of last season.
