DHL Aviation secure International All Cargo Carrier of the Year award

DHL Aviation, a part of DHL Express has secured the title of International All Cargo Carrier of the Year in Africa at the STAT Times? International Awards for Excellence in Air Cargo, held in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 26 February.

unnamedThe award winners are nominated and voted for by the worldwide readers of STAT TIMES, the dedicated trade publication for the global aviation and air cargo industries. Charles Brewer, Managing Director for DHL Express Sub-Sahara Africa, says that this award highlights the power of their extensive network on the continent. ?DHL Express is the only logistics company in Africa with a dedicated air network, and our continued investment in the continent over the last 37 years has enabled us to achieve a 95% on time delivery rate. We service over 16 000 active customers across the African continent, in addition to many thousands of cash customers and transport over 12.5 million shipments per year across the Sub Saharan Africa region.?

Brewer says that Africa is not only one of the last, but possibly the biggest frontier for business, and DHL has positioned itself to be an enabler of this growth by aiding companies with effective and reliable service and regional connectivity. ?With DHL Express being present in every market and territory across Africa, we connect Africa to the world,? Brewer adds. He points to the International Monetary Fund?s January 2015 World Economic Outlook Projections Update1, which projects Sub-Saharan Africa to grow by 4.9% and 5.2% in 2015 and 2016 respectively.

?Companies are increasingly looking to expand into Africa due to these economic growth projections, and express logistics will play a key role in contributing towards this growth,? says Brewer.

According to Malcolm Macbeth, Vice President Aviation for DHL Middle East and Africa, DHL Aviation was established in Africa over a decade ago with a mission is to provide regular, reliable capacity to the markets in Africa that do not enjoy daily passenger and freighter links to the rest of the world.
