The DizemTaaba Group in the Kassena Nankana Municipality (KNM), Upper East Region, has donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to the KNM and the Kassena Nankana West Health Directorates, to support the fight against COVID-19.
The items included infrared thermometer guns, surgical face masks, surgical gowns, examination gloves, bleach solution, medical purpose oxygen, soap and sanitizers.

Presenting the items to the health management team of the two Kassena Nankana Districts at a brief ceremony in Navrongo, a representative of the group, Dr Denis Chirawurah, said the donation was to complement the efforts by the health directorates and other institutions in the fight against the COVID-19 disease and to adequately prepare themselves, especially the frontline workers.
He said the nature of the pandemic required the support of everyone to help curb it and commended the staff of the two districts and other healthcare providers for their sacrifice.
Dr Chirawurah said the group had earlier on donated veronica buckets and soap to all the 10 Paramount Chiefs in the area and also discussed with them and their divisional chiefs how their communities would observe the prescribed protocols.
“We have secured radio airtime for the Health Directorates to use for public education built up very educative audio visual materials to help educate the public on the pandemic”, he added.
He noted that the people respected the views of their traditional leaders and the group planned to use the paramount Chiefs in the area to educate them.
“We have already recorded the voices of the paramount Chiefs on the COVID-19 protocols to be played on radio as a means of educating the people”.
Dr Chirawura said the group had trained community volunteers at the various zones of the districts to assist the Chiefs and the health service staff in disseminating information on the COVID-19 protocols and also report suspected cases to the health authorities.
Receiving the items, Mr Hypolite Yeledour, the Kassena Nankana West District Director of Health Service, on behalf of his colleague Director and the two hospitals, the Navrongo War Memorial Hospital and the Paga District Hospital, thanked the DizemTaaba Group for the donation.
