Information reaching Today indicates that investigations start today to unveil the cause of Sunday?s fire at the Dome market.
At about 11:30 PM on Sunday, the Dome market was gutted by fire destroying properties leaving traders with no hope.
Speaking on an Accra based internet radio Hedjorleonline.com, one of the leaders of the traders at Dome market, Madam Diana noted that the fire has destroyed many properties.
?The fire started around 11 P.M., on Sunday but we were lucky that the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) arrived on time to salvage the situation?however, about ten to fifteen stores were burnt to ashes?, she said
According to her, the Dome market has not experienced such an unfortunate situation before and that the traders do not really know the cause of the fire.
?For now it is premature to comment on the cause of the fire because investigations are to start today by the security agencies to determine the cause of the fire,? he said.
She explained that after the incident the municipal assembly, National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and other organisations have visited the scene to observe the state of affairs.
She appealed to the government to support the fire victims with some appreciable amount to enable them set businesses again.
?We are expecting something good from the government to help rescue the fire victims because we have children and we have to pay school fees and utility bills,? she said.
