The Asantehene,?Otumfuo Osei tutu II, has?told the Black Stars not to?make money their main?motivation whilst playing?for Ghana.
He urged the players to?put monetary considerations?aside whenever they?wear the national jersey;?and consider it as national?service.
The occasion was when?the Black Stars paid a courtesy?call on Otumfuo at the?Manhyia Palace in Kumasi?on Thursday.
The senior national team?and Ghana FA members?were at the palace to seek?Otumfuo?s blessing ahead?of their clash with Uganda.
The Ashanti King also?charged the Black Stars?Management Committee to?respect and fulfill every?agreement it reaches with?the Black Stars.
He described Ghana?s?elimination at the group?stage of the 2014 Mundial as?a painful experience, but?urged the players to put the?Brazil fiasco behind them?and redeem themselves in?future games.
He said it was important?that the Black Stars took?serious lessons out of the?Brazil debacle to help them?return to winning ways,?immediately.
The Asantehene said?since the Black Stars players?were professionals they?should take their football?careers serious.
GFA President, Kwesi?Nyantakyi thanked the?Asantehene for his wise?counsel and constant support?to the Black Stars.
Black Stars Skipper,?Asamoah Gyan, said the?Black Stars had learnt vital?lessons from the Brazil failure,?and this would help?them in their respective?careers.
