Development Economist Dr Frank Bannor has endorsed Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia’s digitalization agenda, urging Ghanaian voters to rally behind the New Patriotic Party’s presidential candidate in the upcoming December 7 general elections.

Speaking on Gordon Asare-Bediako’s Bɛkyerɛ Mu show aired on Wontumi Radio 95.9, Movement TV, and MyABC TV on Saturday, August 3, 2024, Dr Bannor emphasized the critical role of digitalization and artificial intelligence (AI) in Ghana’s future economic competitiveness.

“For Ghana’s economy to compete favourably with the rest of the world, we need Bawumia’s digitalization,” Dr Bannor asserted.

He highlighted Vice President Bawumia’s vision as essential for propelling Ghana into the next stage of development.

Dr Bannor, the Head of Research at the Danquah Institute, underscored that the era of traditional tools like cutlasses and hoes was obsolete, emphasizing that digitalization and AI now drive the global economy.

“Artificial intelligence and digitalization drive the world today,” he stated. “Leaders still rooted in old-fashioned methods are relics of the past.

Without embracing digitalization and artificial intelligence, there can be no viable economy today.”

He urged Ghanaian youth to align with Dr. Bawumia’s vision, particularly his commitment to training one million young people in digital skills and AI.

Dr Bannor states this initiative is crucial for positioning Ghana at the forefront of global technological advancements.

“We have moved beyond traditional leadership. The world has progressed significantly beyond old-fashioned ideologies.

We need Bawumia’s leadership to navigate Ghana into the digital era,” Dr Bannor emphasized.

He called on voters, especially the youth, to actively support and vote for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming elections, describing his digitalization agenda as pivotal for Ghana’s advancement into the next millennium.

“As a nation, embracing Dr Bawumia’s digitalization mindset is our gateway to future prosperity,” Dr Bannor concluded, urging Ghanaian voters to champion digital transformation in the country.
