He says the commission will execute its task ?without favour to any party or candidate.?

Dr Afari Gyan made this remark during an Inter-Party Advisory Council meeting, held on Tuesday.
He stated the officials of the electoral body are poised to ensure a credible election this year.
According to him, Ghanaians have been ?yearning for credible elections? and therefore the officials are mandated to execute their tasks well.
The EC Boss further remarked that ?We can?t disappoint them [Ghanaians]. To this end the EC and all the principal actors in the upcoming elections should have the same objective to conduct the various activities in such a way as to facilitate the holding of free, fair and transparent elections.?
He however charged political parties to cooperate with the EC in ensuring the country?s integrity is not compromised in order for Ghana to remain a beacon of hope to neighbouring countries and the world.
He affirmed ?the EC will do its work in a transparent manner without favour to any party or candidate. That is only one side of the coin. True democratic elections can only be held under peaceful condition devoid of violence, intimidation and any form of cheating so the electorate can freely exercise their right to choose a person they want to lead them.
