Dr Mrs Mary Grant has died.

The former member of the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) and Council of State was 88 years old.

Dr Grant, according to the family, passed away on Sunday September 18, 2016 afternoon at the 37 Military Hospital.

Dr was the first Wesley Girls High School alumnus to be a medical doctor and was appointed Deputy Secretary of Health in 1985 in the Jerry John Rawlings-led PNDC regime. She was also a Deputy Minister of Health at a time. Dr Grant was also a Minister of Education and Culture.

She also chaired the National Council on Women and Development. Dr Grant was part of Ghana’s delegation to the Beijing women’s conference.
