Driver in trouble for attempted crime


James Kwakye, a driver on Thursday appeared before an Accra Circuit Court for conspiracy to commit crime and attempting to commit crime.crimecrime

James was said to have conspired with four others now at large and attempted robbery.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge but was however remanded by the court, presided over by Mr Francis Obiri to reappear on December 16.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Kwabena Adu told the court that the complainant is a car dealer living in Adenta, while the accused person is a driver living at Spintex Road, and once worked for the complainant.

He said on October 10, at about 0200 hours, while the complainant and his family were asleep, a group of four armed men wearing mask and wielding pump action guns, went into his house and attempted breaking into the facility but were not able to do so.

He told the court that the robbers then engaged the complainant in exchange of firing and the victim sustained gunshots wounds.

Police Inspector Adu said the complainant was able to call the police. The robbers however fled the scene before the arrival of the police patrol team.

He said the complainant was rushed to a hospital where he was admitted, treated and discharged.

He told the court that the suspect who was once a house help to the complainant was arrested because he was suspected to have recruited the other accomplices to attack the complainant in order to rob him.
