The 59-year old Catechist, in charge of the Nima-Accra branch of the Church, was elected at the end of the four-day National Conference of the Union at Hohoe to serve a six year term.
The Conference which was on the theme:“Speed the word” was attended by over 250 delegates from the 15 presbyteries of the Church.
Reverend Dr Elymas Newell, Principal of the Church’s Seminary at Peki, urged the catechists to live above reproach as they serve as “the window to the church”.
He said many people now enter the holy ministry for selfish gains and defrauded people in the name of God “but I advise you to live a life that will impact positively on society.
Mr Joseph Agborli, the outgoing President of the Union, thanked the delegates for their support during his tenure of office.
Mr Agbeehia thanked the Union for the confidence reposed in him and said “I will not let you down”.
He urged his colleagues to use their sermons to console, unite and bring back the lost “sheep” adding, “shy away from divisive sermons.”
