The championship is an initiative of the Ghana Volleyball Association (GVA) and aimed at rejuvenating the sport across all the 10 regions of the country.
Speaking to the Ghana New Agency (GNA), Mr Paul Atchoe, the President of the GVA said the objective of the championship is to bring the the teams together and select the best talents from the southern sector into the national team.
He said it will also afford the technical handlers the opportunity to know and identify hidden talents and help groom them .
Mr Atchoe said the championship also forms part of preparations towards the upcoming national volleyball festival, slated for Kumasi later this year .
The GVA President said the Northern sector will also take their turn before the National Festival.
He appealed to philanthropist, corporate bodies and organizations to support the GVA to groom more talents across the country, adding that, there are a lot of talents scatted across the country but the lack of resources has hindered the progress of most of them.
