The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) will temporarily cut power supply to parts of Greater Accra and the Western Region on Tuesday, April 29, to conduct essential maintenance work aimed at improving service reliability.

In Greater Accra, the outage will affect areas including Ofankor, Mensvic Hotel, Lancet Medical Laboratory, Ghana Link, and Franko Estate from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Meanwhile, communities in the Western Region such as Apremdo, Kwesimintsim, Agona, Dupaul, Whindo, and Assakae will experience disruptions between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm.

ECG apologized for the inconvenience, emphasizing that the maintenance is necessary to upgrade the power distribution network. The company also acknowledged recent weather-related outages caused by rainstorms, which have damaged power lines due to fallen trees and debris. While some faults are resolved quickly, more severe damage to conductors and feeders requires extended repair time.

Customers are advised to report any electrical hazards, such as fallen cables, to ECG’s call center (0302-611611), local offices, or its social media channels (@ECGghOfficial). The utility assured the public of its commitment to restoring and maintaining a stable power supply, urging cooperation during the maintenance period.

The planned outages follow growing concerns over Ghana’s power stability, particularly during peak demand periods. While ECG has intensified infrastructure upgrades, unpredictable weather and aging equipment continue to pose challenges to uninterrupted electricity supply. Proactive maintenance, though disruptive, remains a key strategy to prevent larger-scale failures.
