ECOWAS Holds Ministerial Validation Meeting On HCD Report 2022

In a bid to improve the human capital indices of the West African Region by 2030, ECOWAS will hold a ministerial validation meeting on Human Capital Development (HCD) Report 2022 in Abuja, Nigeria on 14th June 2022.

The meeting will also feature the discussion and presentation of the Gender and Transformative Action Report for Human Capital Development in West Africa. ECOWAS had earlier developed the Integrated Human Capital Development (HCD) Strategy which forms a framework for accelerating the growth of human capital for the region through the formulation of National Human Capital Development Strategies in Member States.

The objective of this ministerial meeting is to validate and approve the implementation documents of the ECOWAS Human Capital Development Strategy 2030 for adoprtion by the ECOWAS Council of Ministers.

These documents include ECOWAS Human Capital Report 2022; ECOWAS Integrated HCD Index; ECOWAS Human Capital Parity Index; HCD and Gender Index Dashboard; and Gender Equality and Transformative Action for HCD.

The meeting is expected to have in attendance ministers in charge of key Ministries in Member States including Ministries of Health, Education, Gender and Finance.

It is expected that the meeting will be highly paricipatory and inclusive, allowing ministers to provide recommendations on the improvements of the documents.
