Guzakuza in partnership with GIZ Ghana and Ecobank is set to hold the Women in Agribusiness Forum (WAF2021) on Wednesday 30th June 2021.

In all, eight (8) out of the twenty five (25) selected finalists are Ghanaians in the 2021 GIZ Women in Agribusiness Awards slated for Wednesday.

Three (3) out of the five (5) selected finalists in the eminent Role Model Excellence Category in upcoming awards are also Ghanaians including; Catherine Krobo Edusie of Eden Tree, Juliana Asante-Dartey of Agri-impact and Mabel-Ann Akoto-Kwudzo of Okata Farms.

A statement copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Monday said this year’s forum would raise awareness and elevate discussions on the critical role women play in transforming food systems with focus on what the available data is saying.

It said key attractions will binclude: UN Summit Dialogues, Awards, Networking, Knowledge Sharing and Industry Innovation Experience and would be graced by Madam Mme Diop, the Special Envoy on Women Peace and Security at the Africa union commission, while Industry players including Dr. Janet Edeme from the African Union Commission and Dr. Nomathemba Mhlanga from the UN-Food and Agricultural Organisation would be speaking.

In all, 300 Women in Agribusiness are expected to attend this year, out of which five will receive the GIZ Women in Agribusiness Award.

The Women in Agribusiness Forum is created for every woman who is passionate about agriculture, food and business and the Awards are aimed at highlighting the achievements of exceptional women in the agribusiness fraternity who have risen above the limit to lead the way for others to emulate.

According to the statement the maiden award which seeks to recognise five (5) women blazing the trail in African Agribusiness received 378 entries from individuals and organizations in the Africa region and were thoroughly assessed by a team of independent assessors who submitted a shortlist of 68 nominees to a panel of five Judges from Ghana, Mali, Kenya, Namibia and South Africa.

It said the women would be celebrated at the forum.
