The unparalleled commitment by Nigeria?s leading telecommunications and ICT Company, MTN, in the on-going UNICEF Charity Shield Polo, has received official thumps-up from Kaduna State Governor elect, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and the Argentine ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency, GustavoDzugala.

Their commendations were made during the opening ceremony of the on-going MTN UNICEF Charity Shield International Polo Tournament, as they both singled out the un-equaled involvement of MTN in promoting charitable efforts, the game of polo and sports generally in the country.

The Argentine ambassador, who led over ten diplomats from Holland, Switzerland and Ethiopia among others to mark the Argentine National Day at the event, also commended the activities of UNICEF in helping vulnerable children in the north and its campaign against the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Nigeria.

Kaduna State Governor elect, Nasir El Rufai, who was represented by his deputy, BalaBantex, arrived at the venue as the Special Guest of Honour, and bowled the ball to officially gallop off the 2015 edition of the Charity Shield tournament.

After watching DeeBee Farms defeat Akasma 7-21/2 in the first game of the Charity Shield, BalaBantex, speaking on behalf of El-Rufai, noted that MTN?s partnership with UNICEF and Fifth Chukker has helped in improving the lives of many orphaned children in the state. He went further to urge other corporate organizations to emulate MTN?s commitment to charity and sports promotion across the country, given the positive effect the event has had in the society.
