Election 2020 COVID-19 Ambassadors planted at Polling Stations

The Electoral Commission has planted COVID-19 Ambassadors at strategic locations within the perimeter of the Polling Stations to ensure that the electorate adhere strictly to preventive protocols.

Madam Catherine Ahiador, Presiding Officer at a Polling Station at Nima in the Ayawaso East Constituency told the Ghana News Agency that, “the EC has put in place measures to ensure that we are all safe, we must adhere to the COVID-19 protocols.”

The presiding officers urged all voters to adhere strictly to the
COVID-19 protocols.

The voting at the Constituency started smoothly at 0700 hours on Monday with long queues of voters waiting patiently to vote.

The first electorate at the centre told the GNA that she got there at 0200 hours with the intention of voting early to avoid long queue in the morning.

Madam Ahiador said, 271 eligible voters were on the register for Centre A, but had 300 ballot sheets for both Presidential and Parliamentary for the center, in order to replace spoilt ballot sheets.

Mr Emmanuel Lawyer, the presiding officer for center B told the GNA that, EC had provided all the necessary materials for the exercise and 342 eligible voters were expected to vote.
