The Deputy Chairman of the Electoral Commission (EC) in charge of Corporate Services, Dr. Bossman Asare, has asserted that the commission is fully transparent and has nothing to hide regarding the voter registration process.

This comes in response to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) calling for re-exhibiting the voter register to address and verify issues the EC claims to have corrected.

Tanko Rashid-Computer, Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the NDC told Umaru Sanda Amadu on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News that re-exhibiting the voter register should be straightforward for the EC and would enhance the legitimacy of the upcoming elections.

In response, Dr. Bossman Asare stated in an interview on Joy News’ NewsFile that the EC is open to discussing any concerns the NDC might have.

“If the NDC still has concerns that the issues have not been addressed, we need to sit down and explain everything to them,” he said. “We’ll get our IT experts to provide a detailed explanation.

The NDC mentioned 3,400 issues without substantive evidence, and we have also said if you don’t have any problems, then everything is fine.”

Dr Asare assured that before the December 7 elections, the EC would grant all political parties access to the voter register to ensure that all discrepancies have been resolved.

He encouraged the NDC to discuss the voter register with the EC to resolve any outstanding issues.
