Emile Hirsch pleaded guilty on Monday, August 17 to misdemeanor assault for choking Paramount executive Daniele Bernfeld during the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. The ?Into the Wild? actor told judge he was ?truly sorry? for the incident.
The judge sentenced Hirsch to 15 days in jail and ordered him to pay a $4,750 fine. The 30-year-old actor, additionally, was ordered to do 50 hours of community service.
Hirsch told the court that day that there was ?no excuse? for his behavior, which was ?wrong? and ?reckless.? He moreover stated, ?It?s been seven months now and I feel like I?ve grown a lot in that time.?
Hirsch was charged with assault in February for allegedly chocking Bernfeld while partying at TAO nightclub in Park City on January 25. The actor has since checked into rehab following the incident, admitted to drinking ?an enormous amount of alcohol? that night, and noted that he still couldn?t ?explain what happened or why it happened.?
