The organisers of the third annual Ghana DJ Awards have announced that entries for the 2015 edition of the awards are open and DJs have been invited to submit their entries to the organisers of the award for vetting.
According to Ken Addo, Executive Member of the Ghana DJ Awards, entries received would be screened for compliance with the award rules and also to ensure that the entries are submitted in the correct category and the dead line is December 24.
?The purpose of this process, known as vetting, is to ensure that each entry is eligible and not at risk of disqualification later. The sorting committee of the Ghana DJ Awards will perform this function. No artistic or technical judgments are made about entries at this stage,? he said.
?After submission, qualifying entries would be sent to the judges for adjudication. All the categories in the awards, with the exception of non-voting categories, are adjudicated by a panel of judges in accordance with the defined guidelines. The public is not involved at this stage at all,? Ken stressed.
He added that there is a different panel of judges for each category, but depending on the particular expertise of a judge, such a judge may serve on more than one panel. The panel of judges is reviewed annually. They are selected according to their expertise in their respective fields.
Final nominations, according to him, would be announced at the main launch of the 2015 Ghana DJ Awards in January. The judging vote would count 70 percent while the public vote would count 30 percent.
Ghana DJ Awards is aimed at highlighting contributions DJs have made to Ghanaian music distribution and promotion by playing on radio, endorsing and putting songs out to be enjoyed by the masses.
The awards ceremony is slated for Saturday, February 21at the Accra International Conference Centre.
