The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Eritrea rose to 1,320 after the Red Sea nation reported 68 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, the Eritrean Ministry of Health said.
The ministry said in a statement, “68 patients have been diagnosed positive for COVID-19 in tests carried out today at Quarantine Centers and OPD (outpatient department) Services in the Central, Gash Barka and Anseba Regions.”
“Sadly, a 55-year-old patient who has been receiving treatment in the hospital in Eritrea’s capital Asmara, and a 50-year-old patient from the hospital in Tessenie city have died due to COVID-19,” the statement added.
Earlier this month, Eritrea confirmed the country’s first COVID-19 related death.
The Eritrean Ministry of Health also said 33 patients who have been receiving medical treatment in medical institutions have recovered over the last 24 hours, putting the total number of recovered patients to date at 676. Enditem
