The newly appointed Ethiopian Consul General to Guangzhou, China’s Guangdong Province, has pledged to promote trade and investment between the two countries.

Teferi Melese, Ethiopian Consul General to Guangzhou, in his discussions with the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations (ECCSA) officials, stressed that his office will work to strengthen the trade and investment relations between the two countries and their commerce chamber’s, said a statement issued by the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday.

The consul general also pledged to work with ECCSA on forging strong collaborations towards promoting trade and investment, which includes identifying Chinese companies to work in joint venture with their Ethiopian counterparts, the statement said.

The need to promote the annual Ethio-Chamber International Trade Fair to raise awareness among Chinese investors and companies was also said to be a key topic of the discussion.

Guangzhou is also one of the five Chinese destinations of Ethiopia’s flag carrier, the Ethiopian Airlines. Enditem
