Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali arrived in Somalia on Saturday for a day-long visit aimed at boosting bilateral ties between the two countries.

Ali who arrived amid heavy presence of security in Mogadishu and its environs was received by his host, President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and other high-ranking government officials and immediately headed to the presidential palace for a bilateral meeting.

Government officials said on Saturday the Ethiopian leader and his host are expected to discuss bilateral and regional issues including security matters.

The visit by Ali comes a day after he received the crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE armed forces Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan in Ethiopia amid reports Ali is trying to mediate between the Gulf nation and Mogadishu. Enditem
