During his visit to the Regional Ministry in Ho, Ambassador Hanna was briefed on the impact of the EUR 224,022.06 grant awarded by the EU to the Volta Regional Coordinating Council The EU Grant has been used to adequately resource the Council and improved regular monitoring of the twenty-five District Assemblies in the region. The purpose of the grant is for the strengthening of the Regional Co-ordinating Council and the Regional Planning and Co-ordinating Unit to effectively support planning and monitoring of District Assemblies activities in the Volta Region.

Meeting with Gari Processors NOVOGAP

On 25 February, Ambassador Hanna also met and interacted with representatives from the Northern Volta Gari Processors Association (NOVOGAP), visited their Processing Factory where he watched the processing of cassava into gari and inspected some feeder roads in Nkwanta. NOVOGAP is an advocacy organisation supported by the Business Sector Advocacy Challenge Fund (BUSAC), partly funded by the European Union.

The Association managed to get feeder roads in the northern part of the Volta Region properly constructed, making it possible for farmers and agro-processors to transport their produce from the farms to the market centres. This has made the produce of NOVOGAP members accessible to buyers, leading to an increase in their sales volumes and income.
