The European Union Election Observation mission (EOM) to Malawi has said that it will not release the election final report which was scheduled to be released this week.
In its press statement issued on Wednesday, the commission said that the report will neither be shared nor published until after the court decides on the elections case which is in court now.
The press statement further said that the presence of EOM in Malawi aims at positive contribution to ongoing process, notably through a set of recommendations in view of possible future reinforcement of electoral process in the country.
Meanwhile, the Chief Observer said he is committed to further his understanding and that he will seek to engage with broad range of stakeholders.
The decline of the final election report presentation comes after the public outrage on the timing of the report.
Eerier this week the opposition leaders, Saulos Chilima and Lazarus Chakwera condemned the arrival of the observer mission in the country, saying the presentation of the report is ill-timed, careless and it amounts to an extra-judicial gimmick to meddle with and influence pending litigation. Enditem
