Europe Week 2020, organized by the European Union (EU) Delegation to Albania, kicked off on Monday evening with a full program of musical performances taking place online because of the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.

The head of EU Delegation to Albania Luigi Soreca said in a statement issued by his deligation that the last months have not been easy for Albania, noting the Nov. 26 earthquake and the current COVID-19 pandemic.

“Despite this, there has been an amazing show of solidarity, strength, and resilience between Albanians, and Albania and Europe, including the EU’s decision to open accession negotiations in March 2020,” Soreca was quoted as saying.

“Europe Week 2020 celebrates this togetherness. With the cooperation of 18 artists from EU Member States and Albania, we want to honor the best that the current situation has brought out in people and offer some comfort and entertainment,” he added.

The first performance for Europe Week 2020 was given by the electro-pop Swedish artist Amwin.

Every evening from May 4 to May 10, the audience can follow the performances of the international artists via the Facebook page of the EU Delegation. Enditem
