European Boxers Lead Qualifications for Paris Olympics in Thailand


At the conclusion of the 2nd World Olympic Qualification tournament in Bangkok, 240 boxers from 63 countries have secured spots for the Paris Olympic Games.

The Boxing Refugee Team has also earned two quotas, adding to the diversity of the competition.

Europe stands out with 89 qualified boxers, demonstrating their dominance in the sport. Asia follows closely behind with 71 qualifiers, highlighting the region’s strong boxing talent. America has secured 45 spots, while Africa and Oceania have 20 and 13 spots respectively.

The next step in the qualification process involves the allocation of nine universality places, which are reserved for developing nations. The final confirmation of these places is scheduled for Friday, June 7.

The rankings of nations based on the number of quotas secured for the Paris Olympics are as follows:

  1. Australia: 12 qualified boxers
  2. Uzbekistan: 11
  3. Brazil, Ireland, Kazakhstan: 10
  4. China, France, Italy, Thailand, Turkey, United States of America: 8
  5. Great Britain, India, Spain, Chinese Taipei: 6
  6. Algeria, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Colombia, Cuba, Philippines, Poland: 5
  7. Mexico: 4
  8. Belgium, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, Hungary, Jordan, Morocco, Nigeria, Serbia, Tajikistan, Ukraine: 3
  9. Canada, DR Congo, Georgia, Germany, Japan, Mongolia, North Korea, Norway, Puerto Rico, Refugee Olympic Team, South Korea, Sweden, Venezuela, Vietnam: 2
  10. Armenia, Cape Verde, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Mozambique, Netherlands, Panama, Romania, Samoa, Slovakia, Tunisia, and Zambia: 1 qualified boxer each.
