GERMANY TO HAVE LAST TV DEBATE BETWEEN CANDIDATES FOR CHANCELLOR

The candidates for the office of the German chancellor will gather for the last TV debate ahead of the general election on September 26.

The debates will pit against each other the leader of the ruling Christian Democratic Union of Germany, Armin Laschet, the Social Democrats’ Olaf Scholz and the Greens’ Annalena Baerbock.

HONG KONG TO VOTE FOR NEW ELECTION COMMITTEE

Hong Kong will hold a subsector election of the city’s election committee, which is composed of 1,500 members and is responsible for picking the chief executive as well as nominating lawmakers and electing some of them.

This will be the first election after the Chinese National People’s Congress revamped Hong Kong’s electoral system in March.

EMMY AWARDS TO TAKE PLACE IN LOS ANGELES

The 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony will be held in Los Angeles, paying tribute to the best television programs today.

The event will be broadcast live from 12:00 to15:00 GMT.
