French side Evian have confirmed their Ghanaian defender Jonathan Mensah is available for selection after serving a four-month worldwide ban.

FIFA handed the Ghana international the ban following his illegal transfer from Udinese in 2011.

The relegated French outfit confirmed the 25-year-old will be available for selection after serving the ban.

“From midnight on Wednesday, Jonathan Mensah is officially allowed to play in competitions again.Suspended four months by Fifa, the Ghanaian defender is now part of the players who can be called up by Safet Susic. This is the end to the lengthy absence of Papy,” statement on the club’s website read.

Mensah’s ban came as a double blow for the player, after Evian were relegated from the French top flight last season.

He joined Udinese from Free State Stars in South Africa after impressing for Ghana during their 2009 World Youth Cup victory.

However, the centre-back – who played at both the 2010 and 2014 World Cups – struggled to get into the Italian team and spent time on loan at Spanish side Granada prior to signing for Evian.
