Madam Dlamini-Zuma said she supports the dialogue initiative as the only means of overcoming numerous challenges facing the country and consolidating national unity and cohesion.

“The dialogue being sought by all will be inclusive and will be held in a climate of peace, understanding and national harmony,” the AU Commission chairperson said.

Last year, DR Congo president called for organization of inclusive political dialogue, to find consensual solution to the major challenges facing the country’s electoral process, and hence open the door for credible and peaceful elections.

Since the announcement of the dialogue by the Congolese president, most political parties have expressed their opposition, accusing Kabila of trying to extend his term that expires this year.

Dlamini-Zuma urged all political parties, both those in government and opposition, as well as civil society groups to participate in dialogue to find consensus and hence consolidate DR Congo’s electoral process. Enditem
