IED was concealed in a wheelbarrow by suspected Boko Haram terrorists

The Joint Task Force (JTF) on Operation Restore Order (ORO), on Tuesday, confirmed the death of one person after an explosion in Maiduguri, Borno State.

In a statement issued by the JTF spokesman, Lt.-Col. Sagir Musa, it was revealed that the victim of the explosion was a suspected terrorist planning to use the explosive for an attack.  

?The IED was concealed in a wheelbarrow by suspected Boko Haram terrorists, and it exploded at about 08.35 a.m.,? the statement stated.

The statement, however, explained that another IED, discovered in Gwange by the JTF, was detonated safely. 

?Similarly, an undetonated IED was discovered by the JTF troops in Gwange- Sabonlayi, Maiduguri metropolis at about 11.29 a.m. today,” it read.

?The explosive device was strongly suspected to be planted there by Boko Haram group. It was recovered and detonated by the Bomb Disposal Arm of the JTF by 11.40 a.m. today (Tuesday). 

?No casualty was recorded in the two separate occurrences and normalcy has since been restored in the affected areas, as people are going about their normal activities unhindered.”
