Mr. Kofi Asamoah, Secretary-General of the Ghana Trades Union Congress, has congratulated the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission for the successful implementation of the Single Spine Pay Policy.
?The Commission has proven capable to the task, notwithstanding the challenges in the implementation process,? he said and advocated strengthening of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission to deal with all matters relating to compensations in the public sector.
A statement from the Commission?s Public Affairs to the Ghana News Agency said Mr Asamoah stated this at a recent crunch meeting held at the Castle at the instance of President John Dramani Mahama with members of the Public Services Joint Standing Negotiating Committee (PSJSNC).
President Mahama congratulated members of the PSJSNC for the professional manner in which they handled negotiations and said that Cabinet was in the process of approving the guidelines for determining Market Premium.
The President also stated that discussions on Categories 2 & 3 allowances would commence early next year and encouraged labour to continue to exercise restraint in their dealings on the issues.
