Farmers ushered into digital marketing in Brong Ahafo Region

Farmers and merchants in the Agricultural value chain in Brong Ahafo Region have been ushered into a new realm of digital marketing with the introduction of a unique e-commerce platform dubbed “Brong Ahafo Agro Market online” (

The Agric only online shopping site will be official opened for orders from buyers locally and internationally on Friday 1st February, 2019 in Techiman.

The Agricultural sector is obviously the backbone of our local economy hence, it is important we use all available technological resources to harness its potentials. Without doubt, the world economy has been digitized, which requires all sectors of the economy to follow suit.

The unique Agro Market online platform is meant to expand the market of Agricultural products for farmers and merchants in the Agricultural value chain in the Brong Ahafo region.

The platform will give buyers including individuals and Agro processing companies the ease to order for any kind of Agricultural product either direct from farmers or from reliable sellers.

The BA Agro Market online platform does not only serve as the market for Agricultural products but also serves as a source of market information for businesses since it provides current prices of Agric products for budgeting and other projections. The platform is flexible to use and offers trusted terms of payment for buyers.

It is opened to buyers locally and internationally with a rapid delivery system to the door step of buyers direct from farm gates.

According to the CEO of BA Agro Market Online, George K. Antwi, the idea to setup this unique Agro-based E-commerce platform was inspired by his commitment to create wider market for farmers to combat post-harvest losses in the region. It will also give farmers the opportunity to sell their farm products at competitive prices.

He lamented that although Brong Ahafo Region is the “Food Basket of Ghana”, farmers are not maximizing the full economic benefits of their productivity due to market inadequacy.

This platform he said has come to expand the market for farm products. Farmers are registered based on their product category and production capacity.

He added that the platform is a panacea to buyer and seller fraud in the Agricultural value chain. He hinted that most farmers and sellers of Agricultural products have been defrauded by fraudulent people who sometimes pose themselves as coming from reputable organizations in Ghana but subsequently dupe the farmers or sellers after they agreed on an arranged cash on delivery terms.

Some of these imposters deceitfully tend to order goods with no or little financial commitment but lure farmers/sellers to supply goods to an arranged warehouse only to be false or non-existing.

Farmers/sellers in this part of the country usually fall for these tricksters because they do not insist of any binding contracts from these imposters and but trade based on mere trust.

As a means of combating buyer and seller fraud, all goods will be supplied to the preferred location of buyers, only after intended buyers have made payment of goods ordered before final delivery is made. Goods will only be delivered based on a ‘Pay before Delivery terms’ unless formal contract is signed with the buyer/company. All these are measures to safe-guard both the buyer and the farmers/sellers.

BA Agro Market Online is an initiative of INCH Global Ghana Limited located in Techiman Municipal. The company decided to establish its head office in Techiman because of the Techiman Market which is the largest Traditional Market in West Africa noted for the sale of Agricultural products.

The Techiman market brings together traders from all parts of Ghana and other West African countries every week. This initiative will not only promote the market potentials of the region but will also enlarge the market for farm products a wide range of buyers from around the world.

BA Agro Market online envisaged to be the largest online market for Agricultural products. Visitors of the site will also have the opportunity to order for not only raw Agricultural products but also Processed products such as cooking oil, Shea butter, powered pepper, groundnut paste etc. Agro processing companies has the opportunity to register on the website for Free listing.
