In a visit, FCT Minister promises to renovate rural schools
The minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Bala Mohamed has promised to renovate the Local Education Authority (LEA) primary schools in rural areas of the territory.
He announced this when he visited some of the schools in the on-going good governance tour by the Federal executive members.
Mr. Mohammed, who made a stop over at the LEA primary school in Paipe, one of the rural communities in the territory, said he will renovate the school alongside others to carter for the large number of pupils in a bid to boost the education sector of the territory.
“This of the needs of school and community and the importance of this August visit, I will direct the educational secretary to talk to out development partners to renovate this particular school and some others in the territory within the next three weeks,” he said.
Mr. Mohammed added that he will also direct the secretary of transportation to partner with the developer to make sure that the collapsed structure is in order within the next three weeks.
“Certainly if for this particular school, the work is not done, let me know so that I can direct the educational secretary at the time we will do procurement to act on it,” he stated.
The minister commended the efforts of the community for their positive impact on their children despite the poor state of the school.
Responding, Simon Ugah, a teacher of the school while thanking the minister said that they have made several attempt via letters to the LEA and education secretariats for the renovation of school to no avail.
