In my rounds at the Courts, I have come across a very interesting Writ of Sermons issued against a popular Accra Radio Station, HAPPY FM based at Asylum Down, Accra.
The plaintiff in the Writ is NANA AGRADAA, a very well known fetish priestess based at Sowutuom ironically directly opposite the Catholic Church Seminary.
The fetish priestess is claiming one billion cedis General damages against the radio station and one of their presenters, called NYANSA BOAKWA for defamation in slander.
According to the Statement of Claim attached to the Writ of Summons, Nyansa Boakwa used the airwaves of Happy Fm everyday from Monday 7th January 2013 up until Saturday 12th January 2013 blasting Nana Agredaa and vilifying her as a fraudster, armed rubber in disguise and hoax, misleading innocent people.
Nana Agradaa continued that even when she went personally to the radio station to complain about the unwarranted unprovoked unjustifiable assault on her by the radio station, Nyansa Boakwa felt strengthened and declared on Saturday 12 January 2013 that he had heard that Nana Agrada was taking him to Court and that he was ready for her.
The Writ is accompanied by a Motion for Interim Injunction which is slated for hearing on Monday, 31st January 2013. The aim for the Motion is to restrain the Happy Fm radio station from broadcasting anything about Nana Agradaa, whether good or bad, until the resolution of the issues in controversy.
