Final year pupils of Junior High Schools (JHS) in the Kumasi metropolis returned to school on Monday, as directed by the government.

The students, as directed by the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, are to return to complete their studies and write their final Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

A visit by Ghana News Agency to some schools in the Kumasi metropolis indicated that all the final year pupils were present and learning under the instructions of their teachers.

All the preventive protocols had also been put in place in almost all the schools visited on Monday morning.

The pupils were seen wearing their nose masks and Veronica buckets placed at vantage points of entry in the schools.

Mr Osei Sarpong, Headmaster of the Adum Presby JHS, told the GNA that all the safety protocols were in place at the school, adding that, ‘no face mask no entry’ sign had been boldly posted in front of the school gate to alert all the pupils.

He said the classes had been allocated 27 pupils each to ensure that the social distancing protocol was strictly observed.

Mr Sarpong said teachers, pupils and all non-teaching staff in the school would be provided with three reusable nose masks.
